GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) fined two grocery shops – one for operating without a license and the other for selling items at inflated rates.
The corporation took the action after receiving complaints from the public regarding abnormal pricing of materials during the lockdown period.
A GMC statement mentioned, “The team of GMC inspected two grocery shops after receiving public complaints. Baldev Store was fined with Rs 2,000 for not having a license for selling grocery items.
On the other hand, Royal Bhandar, which was selling essential commodities at inflated rates, has been fined Rs 5,000.”
Baldev Store is located at Lachit Nagar and Royal Bhandar is at Sarania near Kasturba Ashram.
Further, a penalty of Rs 11,500 was imposed on three vans for carrying fish and chicken illegally which were later was seized by the Bhagaduttapur Police Station, Kahilipara.
