DELHI: Delhi government has decided to impose a 70 percent ‘Special Corona Fee’ on the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of liquor in the national capital effective May 5, according to news agency PTI quoting sources.

The decision has been taken in order to boost government revenue, which has been hit hard due to the coronavirus-forced lockdown.

“70 percent ‘Special Corona Fee’ has been imposed on the MRP of liquor bottles. The new rate will be applicable from Tuesday,” posted PTI quoting a senior official.

Meanwhile in Assam, scores of people were seen forming queues outside liquor shops after these were allowed to open from 11 AM to 5 PM effective from May 2.
